Disco!

Disco! Nothing says "The 70s" more! Donna Summer saved us the last dance, KC told us to put on our boogie shoes and shake our booties, and everyone did the Hustle! Saturday Night Fever sent John Travolta's career into the stratosphere, and the Bee Gees ruled the airwaves. Steve Rubell opened the doors to Studio 54 and began the biggest party the world will ever know. Even after the chants of "Disco Sucks!" have died, it's beat can still be heard.

Remember these artists?

Donna Summer ...The premiere Disco Diva! Songs like "Last Dance", "Hot Stuff", "Heaven Knows"... it wasn't disco without Donna! The page I have linked is in French but there is also some English content. The only one I could find on her!

Gloria Gaynor ...Her "I Will Survive" became a huge hit!

The Bee Gees ...The Brothers Gibb helped the soundtrack to "Saturday Night Fever" reach feverish heights thanks to songs like "Stayin' Alive", "Night Fever" , and "How Deep Is Your Love". Yvonne Elliman sang their "If I Can't Have You" and scored herself a hit off the soundtrack too. It remains the biggest selling soundtrack of all time.

The Village People ... They had hits with songs such as "YMCA", "In The Navy", and "Macho Man".

KC And The Sunshine Band ..."...do a little dance, make a little love, get down tonight!" KC served up our disco just the way (uh huh, uh huh) we liked it!

Chic ... "Le Freak" was a monster hit, from the number one R&B album of 1979, "C'est Chic".Sing it now! "....aaaahhhh FREAK OUT!!"

Blondie ...Back then I would have challenged you to go to a club and NOT hear songs like "Heart Of Glass" or "One Way Or Another"! I love this band! This is the official site, and it's COOL!

Rose Royce ...Workin' at the car wash... No site for this band right now. They are currently still performing.

Hues Corporation ...Don't rock the boat, baby!

Alicia Bridges ...She loves the nightlife, she's got to boogie! No site for her.

Another Great Disco Page! ...There's alot more to disco than the Bee Gees and Donna Summer, as this site points out. There are plenty of Real Audio files and commentary. This stuff is *real* disco!

Studio 54! ...Cross the velvet ropes into Studio 54 and relive those days of excess! Plenty of .wav files of our favorite disco tunes and lots lots more, dig?

Saturday Night Fever The movie based on the New York Magazine article "Tribal Rites Of The New Saturday Night" escalated what was a fad into a phenomenon. John Travolta racked up an Oscar nomination for his role as Tony Manero and his performance was nothing short of brilliant.

Who might you have rubbed elbows with at Studio 54 if you were lucky enough to be let inside? Well how about.... Liza Minelli, Liz Taylor, Halston, Valentino, Elton John, Debbie Harry, Calvin Klein, Bianca Jagger, Mick Jagger, David Bowie,Jerry Hall, Brooke Shields, Michael Jackson, Al Pacino, Madonna, Sylvester Stallone, or Margaux Hemingway and many more. Who knows who else was bound to drop by on any given evening?

"...so get on up on the floor 'cause we gonna boogie oogie oogie till we just can't boogie no more!"--A Taste Of Honey, "Boogie Oogie Oogie"
